College is A Waste Of Time

The 4 pillars of an argument are Argumentative essay are Thesis statement, Evidence, Refutation and Concluding statement. I think in the first paragraph the thesis statement would be "I believe higher education is broken" which can be the writers opinion.Evidence which is based of facts and reliable source. The author provides evidence by quoting famous sociology professors. Then he gives us more evidence in passage 5 with his opinion on success of people who never graduated college.People like :Ellen Degeneres, Steve Jobs, and Michael Dell. The author is trying to persuade you with the facts and evidence he is bringing to the table. He wants you to eventually agree with him.Refutation is in paragraph nine. It says "Of course, some people want a formal education". He says not everybody should leave college and that it mainly depends on the career and path your pursuing.Refutation is in the passage because he is challenging and acknowledging the other side of the argument. Finally, the conclusion will reinforce the authors argument. The conclusion is in paragraph 10. He uses talks about how the better school you go to the better opportunity you have.He just makes his conclusion restating the same argument that higher education is broken.I believe that the author appeals to his audience by explaining how college is not for everyone and eve if some do not have a formal education doesn't mean they don't live financially well. Most people need to go to college depending on their profession of choice. You shouldn't judge somebody just because they didn't go to a big school or just because they didn't go to school at all.The author explain that not all people want to spend thousands and thousands of dollars on tuition which can cause them to be in debt for years. It all depends on your profession.
